BETWEEN STATES was birthed in a state of metamorphosis. The old layers of who I was were coming up to the surface to be healed - all while dealing with a toxic person who I was very much in love with, unable to see past a life with her (despite the pain). Relationships can be our greatest triggers, and greatest liberators and healers. 

 This song came from a moment of reclaiming who I am and who I want to be. I want to ascend past unaligned situations, people, and ways of thinking which do not serve only my ultimate good, but the good of those around me. Yet, in the midst of desiring this new state of being, one naturally has to face the fears that have been holding one back in order to release them. 

 This is the cyclical, growth-based nature of being a 3D human. But once we recognize this as fleeting and ultimately power-giving, then one starts to not give a f*ck, and life becomes a magical game. 

 What are you currently working on releasing, so that you can make space for the new?

This song was written two and one half years ago, a week before we shot New Age (the short film, @new_age_film on Instagram). I initially had another song written that would be used in the ending scene. But per my usual style, Between States flowed out and demanded to be used.
